IP Radio Solution Set Allows Seamless Migration Path from Current Generation to Future IP Networks for Mobile Operators
(30 October 2008 – Hong Kong) – Comba Telecom Systems Holdings Limited (“Comba” or the “Group”, Hong Kong stock code: 2342), a leading wireless enhancement solutions provider, announced the availability of its microwave IP solution for wireless ISP and mobile operators around the world. Comprising of antenna, network management system (NMS), indoor and outdoor units (IDU and ODU), Comba’s microwave IP solution allows for packet, hybrid and classic data transport.
The microwave IP solution provides cellular backhaul service with both legacy Time Division Multiplexed (TDM) and high-capacity native Ethernet at 100Mbps with low latency for data access. It meets the requirement for increasing data transport capacity resulting from 3G cellular deployment and provides a robust and cost-effective alternative to expensive leased lines.
Mr. Michael Deng, Director of Marketing, Comba’s wireless transmission division said “We are delighted to bring the microwave IP solution to our customers. As the mobile network infrastructure evolves to cater for increasing demands for broadband services, Native-IP base stations will require Ethernet interfaces rather than E1 or STM-1. This change in physical interfaces brings new challenges to backhaul networks. Because the transition will not happen overnight, backhaul networks must migrate gracefully whilst supporting a mixed payload of legacy TDM and growing packet traffic. Comba’s microwave IP solution therefore features flexible network evolution to scale with the operator development from legacy TDM to IP.”
Comba’s microwave IP transmission solution is designed to seamlessly incorporate radio links into wide range of infrastructures, working across a variety of frequencies from 7GHz to 23GHz and meeting carrier-grade standards for reliability, quality and environmental compliance.
By deploying the Comba microwave IP solution, operators and wireless ISPs are able to carry Ethernet and TDM data over the same radio link, without resulting degradation of either type of traffic. Featuring full-duplex connection capacities of 34Mbps of fast Ethernet interface, it is configurable from 4Mbit/s to 34Mbit/s via Craft Interface Terminal (CIT). The system IDU can be easily upgraded from 1+0 mode to 1+1 mode by adding hot swappable module.
