Comba Enables Ubiquitous Wireless Coverage in Chinas New High Speed Railroad

Seamless mobile connectivity at up to 350 kilometers per hour

(15  September  2008  –  Hong  Kong)  –Comba  Telecom  Systems  Holdings  Limited  ("Comba" or  the"Group",  Hong  Kong  Stock  code:  2342),  a  leading  wireless  enhancement  solutions  provider, announced  it  has  successfully  delivered  and  installed  a  wireless  enhancement  solution  for  China's Beijing-Tianjin Intercity Rail. This solution is the only platform that serves all on-train wireless voice and data services for the passengers.

With a 120 kilometer line connecting Beijing to Tianjin, railway trains run at an operational speed of up to 350 kilometers per hour, making it the fastest train service in the world. Travel time between these two cities has now been shortened to 30 minutes.

Although speed is the greatest advantages of a high speed railway, it is also poses challenges in the provision of ubiquitous mobile communication coverage. To overcome this, Comba's solution included the division of the line into a number of sections and set up of over 120 service spots along the route.
Comba's advanced fiber transport remote radio solution then boosts and enhances wireless reception whilst minimizing signal interference and extending reach.

Mr.  Tony  TL  Fok,  Chairman  and  President  of  Comba,  said  “We  are  pleased  to  supply  our  wireless solutions  to  the  Beijing-Tianjin  Intercity  Rail.  The  result  of  exhaustive  testing  and  standby  support means  that  passengers  can  enjoy  seamless  coverage  on  their  mobile  phones.  Moreover,  Comba's solution is easily scalable and upgradeable to 3G standards should it be required.” He further added“Our  experience  and  track  record  in  the  provision  of  wireless  solutions  for  transport  networks  is
unsurpassed  where  solutions  have  been  implemented  for  the  Tibet-Qinghai  railroad  and  Shenzhen subway for example. This latest project is testament to our customers' faith in the company's solution and services.”
