(26 October 2006 – Hong Kong) – Mr. Tony Tung Ling Fok, Chairman and President of Comba Telecom Systems Holdings Limited (“Comba” or the “Group”, Hong Kong stock code: 2342), was named “Hong Kong CEO of the Year”, at the CNBC Asia Business Leader Awards 2006 (ABLA).
CNBC Asia Pacific, a provider of business news, established the awards in 2001 to recognize outstanding CEOs in Asia. These CEOs would exemplify the qualities of strength, ingenuity, foresight and knowledge – elevating their businesses through inspirational leadership yet at the same time providing significant contributions to the business community. The Hong Kong CEO of the Year Award recognises an exceptional Hong Kong business leader whose vision and management abilities have helped steer their company successfully in its home country and in the global marketplace.
Following a rigorous three-phase judging process headed by representatives from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business, including a face-to-face interview to assess candidates’ leadership qualities based on such criteria as talent management, innovation, culture, strategy formulation and social contribution, Mr. Fok was named as the select winner of “Hong Kong CEO of the Year”.
After accepting the award from Mr. Jeremy Pink, CEO and General Manager of CNBC Asia Pacific, Mr. Fok said: “It is a great honour to be recognised by distinguished members of the Asian business community as I am sure that there were many worthy candidates for this award. While highlighting the individual, the efforts made by all those at Comba cannot be overlooked and I accept this honour also on their behalf.”
Mr. Fok added, “With Asia playing an ever increasing role in the global economy, the award will provide me with further impetus to advance Comba as well as my personal conviction of promoting this important corner of the world.”
