Industry-leading Wireless Solutions Set to Advance Turkcell’s Network Infrastructure, Ensuring Ubiquitous Network Coverage for End-users Across Turkey
(16 October 2017, Hong Kong) – Comba Telecom Systems Holdings Limited (“Comba Telecom”, Hong Kong stock code: 2342), a global leading wireless solutions provider, has announced that it has signed two significant agreements with converged telecommunication and technology services provider Turkcell, with a view to advancing the operator’s network capabilities and expediting the development of ubiquitous connectivity for the future.
The deals were signed against the backdrop of the Turkish telecom industry undergoing major upgrades in recent years, with total broadband subscribers reaching 66.4 million, including 55.3 million mobile broadband subscribers[1] at the end of the first quarter of 2017. Turkcell, the leading Turkish mobile operator, has experienced an increasing demand from end-users for stable and seamless network connections wherever they go, be it high-density urban centers or remote rural areas across the nation.
According to the first agreement, the Repeater Frame Agreement, Comba Telecom is to provide Turkcell with a new platform of mPico repeaters, the latest technology innovation that Comba Telecom has brought to the market this year. Featuring the industry-leading Operation and Maintenance Terminal (OMT) Mobile App and Coverage Management System (CMS), the products designed with factory modular design and isolation detection is embedded in a competitive small form factor light in weight. The latest mPico platform serves as a plug-and-play repeater with features to automatically adjust many network parameters based on the site situation, enabling Turkcell to manage multi-band wireless connection easily with fast configuration, reducing operational costs without compromising network performance. Comba Telecom is also appointed to provide high power Interference Cancellation System (ICS) repeaters, which are designed to perform band adjustable interface cancellation, to cater to Turkcell’s continued efforts in advancing its LTE network in both the outdoor and indoor environment.
In addition, Comba Telecom will kick-off the commercial launch of its new range of 8, 10 and 12 port 4.5G Base Station Antennas based on the Antennas Frame Agreement. The transaction builds on Comba Telecom’s existing partnership with Turkcell since 2014 by supplying multiple-port antennas for its 4.5G network rollout.
The new multi-band antennas feature up to 12 ports, improved ruler design and an integrated remote control unit (iRCU) – a key enabler for the antenna’s smaller form factor and lighter weight. The iRCU enables the operator to remotely adjust the electrical tilt of the antenna to optimize network coverage and minimize the interference from neighboring base stations in accordance with mobile traffic conditions on a timely basis. In addition to accommodating 2G, 3G and 4G bands, these design factors enable especially easy installation of Comba Telecom's antennas and a faster mobile network rollout.
Mr. Simon Yeung, Executive Director and Senior Vice President of Comba Telecom and President of Comba Telecom International said, “We are honored to be chosen as Turkcell’s strategic partner to support its global mobile network rollout. Our partnership with Turkcell has been bolstered significantly in recent years. Comba Telecom has demonstrated its strength, experience and expertise in providing world-class wireless solutions, excellent maintenance and project management services. Our open approach in listening to the customer and customizing products and solutions based on client specifications makes us a trusted partner.”
Mr. Yeung added, “We are confident that our latest mPico repeaters, ICS repeaters and LTE Base Station Antennas are ideal solutions to address technical and maintenance challenges Turkcell may encounter in implementing the nationwide mobile network rollout.”
