Comba Launches Air-Ground Stereo Shaping Green Antenna for 5G-A to Boost Low-Altitude Economy

Comba, in collaboration with the China Telecom Research Institute, recently launched a Green Antenna for air-ground stereo shaping aimed at 5G-A. The company has successfully completed the first domestic pilot verification of the 2.1G NR air-ground integrated stereo coverage network in Suzhou, Jiangsu. This advancement ensures that the quality of the ground coverage network remains unchanged while significantly enhancing the coverage capability of 5G base stations. The coverage area is expanded from the conventional ground to the low-altitude area within 600 meters, marking an important solution for 5G-A low-altitude collaborative networking. This supports the development of new low-altitude productive forces represented by drone applications such as smart logistics, smart inspection, smart agriculture, aerial surveying, and emergency rescue, contributing to the economic takeoff of the low-altitude sector.

The air-ground stereo shaping green antenna is the first to integrate radar low-altitude detection beam technology with cellular mobile communication beam technology. It maintains the ground coverage capability while overlaying a highly shaped radar waveform characterized by a "gradual decrease in high elevation angle and a steep decrease in low elevation angle." This feature ensures seamless coverage for ultra-high elevation angles within a 90-degree range and achieves quasi-equal EIRP uniform coverage at the same low-altitude height. The integration of air and ground base stations into a single entity allows for the same hardware equipment, co-site, co-frequency, and shared air interface resources for both ground and air coverage. This rapid expansion of the ground network into the airspace extends the coverage distance of a single airspace cell to over 6 kilometers. In a 600-meter low-altitude networking, the 5G coverage rate reaches 99.2%, with an average uplink speed of 93Mbps, laying a solid foundation for a high-quality air-ground integrated network for 5G-A. Additionally, the China Telecom Research Institute, leading the effort along with Comba and other units, is currently formulating industry standards for this technical solution to support industrial development and large-scale commercial use.

Looking ahead, Comba will continue to closely monitor the evolution and technological trends of the 5G-A network. Through continuous product and technological innovation, the company aims to assist operators in building a high-speed, ubiquitous network integrated for sea, land, air, and space targeting 6G. This will empower various industries to achieve the aspirational vision of "intelligent interconnection of all things, digital twinning" at an early stage.
