Comba Unveils LTE-Ready Wireless Equipment at Mobile World Congress 2010

LTE-Ready Core Equipment Portfolio Includes Base Station Antennas, TMA and Remote Radio Units

(15 February 2010 – BARCELONA) – Comba Telecom Systems Holdings Limited (“Comba” or the “Group”, Hong Kong Stock code: 2342), a leading wireless solutions provider, announced today the commercial availability of its range of 4G wireless infrastructure solutions for core equipment vendors and mobile operators rolling out high-speed LTE networks on the 2.6Ghz frequency.

Showcased at the Mobile World Congress 2010 in Barcelona, Comba’s LTE core equipment portfolio includes tower solutions, and remote radio units (RRU) – all key elements for LTE network rollouts.  These products are complemented by Comba’s suite of services to complete the total solution package, thereby helping clients realize cost-efficiencies and rapid network deployment.

The LTE tower solution features antennas, tower mounted amplifiers (TMA) and combiners.   The range of base station antennas features from single band to multiband models with remote electrical tilt functionality compatible with AISG  standard.  , the Comba LTE multi-band antenna and combiners facilitates co-siting and potentially eliminates the need for separate antennas and feeder cables for each network, thus reducing real estate space and operational costs for mobile operators.

Comba has a successful track record on remote radio unit (RRU) technology with effective deployments around the world.  The latest LTE-ready iteration of RRU has the following attributes that make it the best fit for next generation wireless RAN: more than 20MHz of instantaneous bandwidth, up to 6Gbps of CPRI or OBSAI line rate, and modularized transceiver platform that supports running 3G, 3.5G and 4G systems on the same hardware. Comba RRU has integrated the latest and most advanced power amplifier design and digital processing technology to make it highly power efficient, accurate and almost “noiseless”. This power efficiency, coupled with the RRU’s natural convection cooling capability, flexible mounting options and compact design means it is easy to deploy in a variety of situations with smaller spatial and carbon footprints.

“We are delighted to bring our latest set of solutions to the market.  With LTE developments gathering pace, we believe that our core equipment solutions are well positioned to help operators and vendors deploy their next generation networks efficiently and cost effectively” said Mr. Simon Yeung, Executive Director and Senior Vice President, Strategy and International Operations.  “Comba has invested a lot of resources to create a highly modular RF platform for development of LTE and multi-system base station equipment.  This, along with our advanced R&D facilities, means that we have the flexibility to develop further such wideband solutions according to customer requirements with a shorter time to market”.
