Comba Enables Wireless Coverage for Brazils Rio de Janeiro Metro System


Signs Agreement to Deploy Turnkey Indoor and Metro Wireless System

 

(23 December 2009 – Sao Paulo) – Comba Telecom Systems Holdings Limited (“Comba” or the “Group”, Hong Kong stock code: 2342), a leading wireless solutions provider, announced it has been selected to supply a comprehensive wireless solution to enable ubiquitous mobile communications for Brazil’s Rio de Janeiro Metro (“Metrô Rio”) mass-transit railway network.

With 33 stations covering 42 kilometers, the Metrô Rio serves the city of Rio de Janeiro and carries on average, more than half a million passengers per day and is a key transportation system for the city. Comba will deploy turnkey systems to enable wireless coverage for passengers within tunnels and to enhance existing network coverage within stations. Under the agreement, Comba will supply and install RF equipment including repeaters, antennas, cables and accessories alongside engineering services. In addition upgrades of existing wireless networks will be carried out through deployment of network optimization solutions to enhance coverage within the station concourse and platforms. The project is expected to be completed by March 2010.
