Comba Telecom Introduces Latest Smart Technologies in Macau

(14 October 2016, Hong Kong and Macau)Comba Telecom Systems Holdings Limited (“Comba Telecom” or “the Group,” Hong Kong stock code: 2342), a global leading wireless solutions provider, introduced Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) at the Mobile Solution Event 2016 organized by Hutchison Telephone (Macau) Company Limited (3Macau) on 12 October 2016.

The event focused on promoting development of mobile communications technology, with attendees including industry leaders and key business figures. Comba Telecom was invited to introduce its latest technology for smart cities, mobile edge computing (MEC) and big data analysis. Available in early 2017 as the latest element of Comba Telecom’s blueprint for smart cities and connected enterprises, the MEC platform addresses issues with capacity, congestion and latency by managing mobile traffic intelligently at the network edge. This opens possibilities for mobile network operators (MNOs) and enterprises to maximize network, build value-added applications and location-based services on top of local mobile infrastructure. The platform also enables new business models such as Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) for service providers. For more information about MEC, please visit our newsroom.

Mr. Ken Li, Senior Solution Manager of Technical Marketing Solutions at Comba Telecom said, “Smart cities connect, interact and drive data effectively through comprehensive deployment of information and communication technologies. A smart city enhances quality of life and enriches working experience for the citizens. However, cities always encounter challenges in the construction of smart city at the initial stage. As such, innovation is an important catalyst for the development of smart city technologies. Comba Telecom has an experienced R&D team to investigate different integrated platforms and solutions for smart cities.”

Ken continued, “We strive to work closely with different telecom operators to enhance communications and build up smart cities around the world. We are eager to participate in this event to introduce our smart technologies that brings together government and business toward a common aspiration: turning Macau into a smart city. Comba Telecom is committed to enabling cities around the world to become smart by innovating the best solutions and services to connect enterprises, governments and telecommunications operators. We look forward to helping make smart Macau a reality.”

Specifically, Ken Li spoke at the event on Comba Telecom’s latest developments and plans for MEC, smart cities and big data analysis. Smart cities rely on the Internet of Things (IoT), which proliferates data demand exponentially across wireless networks. Through this transformation, it has never been more important to manage data effectively and speed up connectivity.

Comba Telecom has already helped Macau customers meet their needs for scale and reliability through solution design, installation, network optimization, after-sales maintenance services and technical advice. For example, in 2015, Comba Telecom supplied the TETRA network for in-house and public security communications at a newly built Macau resort. The Group previously installed a wireless enhancement solution at the Galaxy Macau, enabling mobile connectivity throughout the resort.
