Comba Telecom and Ditel Sign Strategic Cooperation Agreement, Makes Foray into Maritime VSAT Communication and Internet-of-Vessels Businesses

(27 October 2016, Hong Kong) – Comba Telecom Systems Holdings Limited (“Comba Telecom” or “the Group”, Hong Kong stock code: 2342), a global leading wireless solutions provider, announced that its subsidiary Comba Telecom Technology (Guangzhou) Limited and Ningbo Ditel Electronic Technology Co., Ltd (“DITEL”) have signed a strategic cooperation agreement to establish a joint venture Nanjing Comdi Telecom Technology Co., Ltd (“Comdi”) to collaborate in developing maritime VSAT (Very Small Aperture Terminal) communication and internet-of-vessels businesses. The agreement was signed at Comba Telecom’s headquarters in Guangzhou Science City.

As a maritime broadband satellite communication service provider and sea vessel communication equipment manufacturer, Comdi offers turnkey solutions for broadband satellite communication, mobile communication as well as internet-of-vessels etc. These solutions can support services including broadband, voice communications, data and video applications to maritime industry customers such as large cruise ships, fishing and cargo vessels. The satellite communication terminal uses an industry-leading system and boasts a highly reliable tracking platform that provides a stable and uninterrupted connection for customers to meet their vessel-to-shore, data backhaul and remote monitoring application requirements.

Mr. Zhang Yue Jun, Vice Chairman and President of Comba Telecom, said, “Network communication technologies have been continuously evolving and are increasingly applied in maritime operations. Satellite communication is currently the only reliable communications means at sea and, we believe combining it with the edges of VSAT satellite communication will become a trend for maritime companies and individual communications consumption, presenting enormous market potential.

“Maritime communication technology is sophisticated and has relatively higher entry barriers. DITEL has been focusing on research of high value-added satellite antenna and satellite signal tracking technologies, thus it possesses leading technological advantages in the VSAT shipboard satellite terminal arena. The marriage of their strengths with the Group’s strong position in wireless communications and its experience cumulated over the years in the satellite communication technologies, products and application will enable all parties to claim a piece of the ‘blue ocean’ market of maritime VSAT communication and internet-of-vessels businesses. We will strive to build a leading platform that offers next-generation maritime broadband access products and solutions in China and to lead the development of communications for the internet-of-vessels.”
